Sephora’s 20% off sale is one of my favorite times of the year. It is the perfect time to buy gifts for my friends and family that love makeup, and also grab a couple things for myself. Keep reading to see what I picked up.
Tartelette in Bloom palette // I have debated getting this palette for a very long time. The Tartelette original palette with matte purples was a huge let down for me, so when the In Bloom edition was launched, I swore it off immediately. Fast forward to now, this palette is used a ton by one of my favorite Youtubers, Jamie Genevieve. She and many beauty vloggers seem to get a ton of use out of it. I took the plunge since I had the discount and am happy I did- so far. I did a look with it for dinner out with my family last night and the shadows were easy to blend and beautiful. At the end of the night the shimmers looked a bit muddy, but I will have to keep testing it to see if that was just a coincidence. The pictures in this post show me wearing some of the matte shades.
Purity by Philosophy Cleanser // Every year I get a refill of this. I use Purity to wash my face literally every single day as a first step to get my makeup off. I can’t live without it!
Jack Black Deep Dive Glycolic Facial Cleanser // I finished up this bottle a few months back, and was waiting to restock during the sale. This is $20 full price, so I consider it a good value for skincare. I have been reading up on Glycolic acid, BHA, and AHA products and really try to incorporate them into my skin to clear out my pores. This is a great cleanser because it doubles as a mud mask!
Urban Decay Troublemaker Vice Lipstick // I am so excited to finally be trying the Urban Decay Vice lipstick formula. Troublemaker is a limited edition shade for the holidays I believe and I can’t wait to try it on. It is a very deep cool toned purple. The reason I bought this color was because it looked similar to a Bite Amuse Bouche lipstick I have been eyeing- Rouge Berry. The Bite formula is amazing, but for a dark lip I usually want something more matte so I know it’s not slipping off my lips. My favorite spot to compare dupes is Temptalia.com. After looking at her dupes for Troublemaker, I knew I wanted it because she did not compare it to anything else I have in my collection. Using her site as a resource is a great way to figure out what you can skip when you are shopping. So far I really like the formula. It wore away a bit at the edges of the bottom of my lip as I wore it, but I liked the pigmentation and consistency of the application.
Yves Saint Laurent Mon Paris Rollerball Perfume // This scent reminds me of a more grown up version of a perfume I used to love embarrassingly too much- Viva La Juicy by Juicy Couture. The full size bottle is extremely pricey, so I just went for the roller ball. My other YSL perfume L’Homme has amazing staying power, so I felt comfortable trying another one from them.
That’s it! I didn’t go too overboard with purchases during the sale, even though my Sephora “Loves” list has never been fuller. That list of all the items I’m adding to my Christmas list was posted earlier this week. Thanks for reading!
