It’s that time of year! For this post I’m breaking down each item that I purchased during the bi-annual 15% off Sephora VIB rouge sale. There are some things I have been waiting for this sale to purchase and some that were more like irresponsible off the cuff splurge decisions.
MAKE UP FOR EVER Brow Liner / I picked this up in the color Brown 30 after seeing it recommended by Polina (PBBunny) on Youtube. I can already say it is fabulous. It’s literally a liquid liner to do your brows with, which sounds terrifying, but works. It makes perfect hair brush strokes and blends out well with a spoolie.
MAKE UP FOR EVER Star Lit Powder #15 / I returned this because it reminded me way too much of the Loreal Infallible eyeshadow in Forever Pink.
TARTE Make Believe In Yourself Eye & Cheek Palette / This was a very unexpected purchase. When I was making the Star Lit powder return, I was perusing the Tarte aisle to look at the Rainforest of the Sea lipsticks, and I swatched this palette. I couldn’t believe how INTENSE these shimmers are. When I saw this online it looked like a little kid’s makeup palette and the blues and purples turned me off. Look at this palette ignoring those two though, and it becomes a whole new beautiful concept palette. The formula of these shadows are very similar to the Dose of Colors Hidden Treasure palette (aka amazing)!
DRYBAR points set / Sephora’s point system is so crappy compared to Ulta’s, but for once they had a points reward I was into. This Dry Bar set comes with three mini spray cans- Triple Sec (my favorite), dry shampoo, and dry conditioner, then two of their hair clips for blow drying or styling.
SEPHORA COLLECTION Outrageous Effect Volume Lip Gloss in 1 Universal Volume / These caught my eye as an affordable lip gloss option. I’m all about plump lips and saw reviews comparing this to Buxom White Russian. After trying this I can say it is less milky white colored than White Russian. It definitely feels plumping and goes on clear. It feels wet on the lips and stays on for about two hours.
MARC JACOBS Highliner Matte Gel Eyeliner in Pink of Me 59 / I finally caved on purchasing this after seeing it mentioned over and over again in YouTube videos boasted as a long- wearing liner crayon. Hoping it lives up to the hype!
GIORGIO ARMANI BEAUTY Sun di Gioia Perfume / I took a risk ordering this online without ever smelling it. I love scents that are reminiscent of summer nights, SPF, and the beach and this one is an online- only item. Luckily it worked out very well and I am absolutely in love with this. It isn’t too sun screen-ish, and has some warm caramelly notes that make it wearable year round. I got a compliment from my Uber driver when I had it on! It lasts all day on my skin. Here’s the Sephora.com description: The scent starts off with solar flowers. Freesia and frangipani blend into an enveloping white veil with milky vanilla. A sunny, modern facet from hesperidic notes combines with the salty notes of a sea breeze. A touch of iris at the heart gives the scent an ultrafeminine and refined feel that is completely Armani. The unique vibrancy of wood, together with ambrox, leaves a trail with an assertive personality.
Notes: Bergamot, Freesia, Marine Accord, Sambac Jasmine, Ylang-Ylang, Frangipani, Coconut Milk, Ambrox, Iris.
BECCA Evermatte Primer / I’m going to Florida this week and am slightly nervous about taking my oily skin to 90 degree weather… In Portland the highest temperature we’ve had so far this year is around 60 and I’m not mentally prepared for anything higher. I’ve heard this mattifying primer is industrial strength.TARTE Rainforest of the Sea Color Splash lipsticks in Rum Punch & Beach Babe / If you have tried Bite Amuse Bouche lipsticks and like a creamy, pigmented formula, you should try this Tarte lipstick range. It is light as air on the lips, but still as pigmented as the Bite lipsticks or Nars Audacious if you are familiar with those. The color range is an AMAZING range of nude and neutral tones.
ANASTASIA Pink Champagne Eyeshadow / The description Sephora has for this is “titanium pinky beige shimmer” and I’ve had my eye on this shade ever since it was released in the limited edition Self Made palette. The sale helped me pull the trigger on this usually $12 shadow.
OUAI Texturizing hair spray / Ran out of Dry Bar Triple Sec so I needed a good texturizing spray, especially because I’ve been into hot rolling and curling my hair more often lately. I have been wanting to try out more products from this brand and I chose this one over Bumble and Bumble’s Dry Spun finish spray based on the price.
BVLGARI Omnia Coral Perfume / I don’t usually like to review samples because it takes a lot of product to get really familiar with something, but perfume is easy to judge with just one application. This was a sample that came with my order and it smells exactly like Victoria’s secret PINK spray. It smells great but definitely something you can get cheaper! I get a fruity note from it that lasts longest on my wrists which is very nice.
Have you tried any of these products? Look out for makeup looks and reviews coming soon as I get familiar with these. Thanks for reading!
