October 2017 Amazon Haul

IMG_2886I’ve been online shopping way too much this month, particularly on Amazon.  The first step is admitting you have a problem, so I figured I’d do a haul/ overview of what I have bought lately.  I’m doing this before the month is actually over in an effort to curb it now.  I’m setting a goal to not make any more orders on Amazon between now and December. Wish me luck!

Alterna Caviar CC Cream / This is a leave in hair product that I bought after seeing Danielle L. from the Bachelor use it.  I really like leave in products so I decided to give this line a go.  While I love the fresh lime scent of it that lingers on my hair, I have found that unless I blow dry my hair, it makes me hair stay damp.  It’s like I forgot to wash the conditioner out, which is a feeling I HATE.  This is good when I blow dry, but I’m big on air drying my hair. I will probably not repurchase after using it up  it because of that.

NYX Plump It Up Gloss / I purchased this shimmery gloss in the color Jessica after seeing someone on Reddit mention it as “extremely plumping”. I totally disagree and find this to be just a normal pretty nude pink gloss. I’m not too upset about the fact that it doesn’t plump, though I would have preferred that.  I do not have many sparkly glosses, so this is a good addition to my lipgloss collection.

Dr. Jart Cicapair Tiger Grass Correcting Cream /  I had heard about this product on Youtube and was excited to try it.  When you put it on it starts out as a mint green, and turns beige / blends into skin.  It takes away the redness from my skin, and evens out my face. I have been using this as a final step for getting ready for work.  It has been awesome for keeping me matte throughout the day, adding SPF 30, and I like that it is a skincare product that also evens out my face without adding foundation.

The Hills Season 5 / I watch the Hills about twice a week before bed, and had gone through season 4. Season 5 is split into  part 1 and 2, so obviously I needed both to get my Hills fix.  I’m at the part where we have just been introduced to Jayde, Brody’s new girlfriend. I love trash TV.

Spanx Bodysuit / One of my favorite Instagram fashion accounts, @JordanUnderwood has shown this grey mesh bodysuit a couple times.  Fashion accounts show a ton of looks and have endless wardrobes, so if someone wears something more than once or twice I know it’s a good bet.  I bought this body suit to wear under dresses or over tank tops that I want to transition into winter.  I love the grey color of this with a tan and can’t wait to wear it to a ton of events!  It fits true to size and to get in it you have to go through the neck so don’t get it too small if you have wide hips like me.

Sea Salt / Flying to Virginia earlier this month really irritated my nose piercing that I got in September.  It was healing really nicely, but something about that trip made it flair up, so I needed to do more sea salt soaks.  The little baggie the piercing place had given me ran out, so I re-upped from Amazon.  This was probably my most reasonable online purchase of the month. I need this thing to heal up so I can get another gold hoop!  The initial stud that they put in always gives me issues until I get the ring.

Open Knee Leggings / I’ve finally realized that some of my workout leggings are way past their prime and need to be thrown out.  I thought this play on the ripped knee jean style was cute, so I searched for a workout legging version.  I think they are so cute and unique!

Gryffindor Tie / The next two items haven’t arrived in the mail yet so I can’t give you a photo.  Every year after Halloween is over, I seem to remember that I want to be something Harry Potter related.  This year I remembered on time, so I bought this gold and maroon tie to complete my super easy costume.  I’m planning on wearing it with a white button up, black denim skirt, round glasses (they’re real prescription so I didn’t have to buy anything for this), drawing a thunderbolt on my forehead, and black booties.  My brother has a wand and some Gryffindor pins I’ll be adding too. I’m so not into hardcore scary costumes or spending too much money on an outfit for one night these days.  I’ll let you guys know how the costume turns out this Saturday!

Lime Crime Buffy – Amazon

Lime Crime Buffy Velvetine / I revisited my Lime Crime Cashmere lipstick this month, and it made me start looking at their range of liquid lipsticks.  Buffy really stood out to me, so I placed an order from  it on Amazon. I feel a lot more comfortable ordering from Lime Crime through a third party like Ulta, Asos, or Amazon rather than directly from them, and you can’t beat free shipping. I can’t wait to see how Buffy looks and swatch it for the blog.

Books

I’m an Audible member, and they are owned by Amazon.  I’ve been running through a lot of books lately, which I’ll be trying to keep up. I try to get through at least a book per month, but this month while traveling I got through a couple during the long plane ride. Audible is so great because it allows me to “read” while sitting in traffic or doing chores around my apartment.

Uglies, Pretties, Specials / I read this series back when I was in highschool, but I wanted to revisit the series.  If you’re into the dystopian genre you’ll really like this one.  Pretties is my favorite of the bunch for sure, but they are all good. I didn’t buy Extras, the last book of the series, because I kinda burned myself out going through them all one after another.

All the Secrets of My Life by Caitlyn Jenner / As a huge fan of the Kardashians and Jenners, I definitely wanted to read this book when the Kardashians were stressing about the “lies” Caitlyn wrote on a recent episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians.  I’m not sure why they were so stressed over the book because it didn’t say anything inflammatory about them.  The story of Bruce transitioning to Caitlyn was really interesting and also heartbreaking to find out how much of a struggle she was going through. It definitely took bravery to be her true self and I liked learning more about the trans community.

Firestarter, Dolores Claiborne, and The Green Mile by Stephen King / I was obsessed with the Netflix series 11.22.63, based on Stephen King’s book.  He is known for writing scary books, which isn’t my genre, so I googled “non- horror Stephen King” and came up with these ones. I bought all three because I like to have a few books on retainer when I start Audible-ing frequently.  I’m on chapter 30 out of 160 in Firestarter and I’m not sure how I feel about it so far. It’s not the most thrilling book I’ve ever read, and a little more serious than I’m used to, but I think it’s because I’m not used to this genre.  It’s a little embarrassing to admit but most of the books I read are more in the Teen category.

That’s all! I should probably have someone change my Amazon password to cut me off now.  …Except for when I finish The Hills season five because I’m not that strong and need six because I think that’s when Kristin Cavallari joins.

Stephen King is my favorite author. I’ve read around 30 of his books. The books you got are most definitely horror, but more psychological horror. I admit I haven’t read the book Firestarter but I’ve seen the movie and it’s pretty freaky. The Green Mile is a long read, but good. It originally came out as a 6 part serial novel (one approx. 100 page book a month for 6 months). That’s how I read it and I still have my original books.

Have you watched 11.22.63 on Netflix? It was amazing!

No. It was based on a book right? A lot of King’s stuff doesn’t translate well on screen because it’s so complicated. Also I temporarily cancelled my Netflix but I plan on going back this weekend as Stranger Things season 2 comes out on Friday.

Yes that’s right. Def give it a try when you have your netflix up, it was the whole reason I got interested in SK in the first place 🙂

Maybe. I’m not big into his political conspiracy theory stuff. I got into King back in the 80s when I was in junior high. Saw a paperback copy of Misery by the checkout at the grocery store & begged my mom for it. This was several years before the movie. I was hooked and haven’t looked back. It began my love of horror novels.

Good info. Lucky me I came across your website by chance (stumbleupon).

    I’ve book-marked it for later!
