New makeup is constantly coming out and I’ve been seeing a steady stream of sneak peaks for products being released this spring and summer. While I talk about the things I want all the time, I thought it would be nice to share what I don’t think is worth it. I got this idea from Nicole Cutler’s Eyeing But Not Buying series on her Youtube channel. My favorite accounts to follow to get information on upcoming makeup releases is Trendmood1 and MakeupCrayz on Instagram.
Marc Jacobs O!Mega Coconut Bronzer / Marc Jacobs released this bronzer a couple years back in drool worthy packaging with a coconut scent. Now it’s back again and while I really want to go get it, I’m not letting myself. My face powder drawer where I keep my bronzers and blushes is way too full. This would be a beautiful gift for someone!
KKW x Mario Collection / While I picked up the palette from this collection (review coming asap!!), I skipped on the lip products. The packaging and colors were not appealing to me and looked a little more orange than I usually go for with my nude lipsticks. The gloss Super Nude was pretty, but I just don’t go through glosses quickly enough to justify getting another one. None of the reviews made me want to purchase them either.
Urban Decay All Nighter Powder / If this is limited edition I’ll be getting it. Otherwise, I need to get through a few more powders before getting this one. There are not a lot of powders that I know of that are designed to be long wearing. Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray is great so I have high hopes for this one!
Tatcha Silk Canvas Protective Primer / Everyone and their mom on Youtube has been using this primer nonstop. At first I was intrigued but after seeing a review of it from Musings of a Muse I decided it wasn’t worth the hype. Tatcha’s high prices turn me off and seem overpriced for what they are.
Sunday Riley The Influencer foundation / It’s always interesting to see what a brand will release when they are branching out from their main skincare line up to start doing makeup. This doesn’t have the best reviews so I’ll be skipping this one. I would love to try their skincare options though!
Sol De Janeiro Glow Oil / This glow oil was announced right around the same time that Fenty Body Lava was released. While they’re both beautiful products, I kind of can’t believe that body glitter is being produced and consumers are eating it up. While I love my skin to look like the bronze glowy hydrated sparkle that these give off, I’m sweaty and sticky enough in the summer without adding an extra layer of oil. Between the Fenty and SDJ offerings, I’d definitely go with SJD Copacabana for the beautiful Brazilian Bum Bum Cream scent.
Colourpop x Shayla / This collection and the promotional images for it look stunning. I love Shayla’s videos and her makeup style in just about all her looks. There are rich tones in the eyeshadow palette, bold golden bronze highlighters, three Lux Lipsticks, and a pretty gloss. My first thought when I say the palette was GIMME but I honestly don’t think I would reach for it that often. It looks like a great array of colors though and is definitely wearable. I love that the collection has options for deeper skin tones, especially the highlighters. C’mon Sis looks like a beautiful lipstick that I would totally pick up if I didn’t have a dupe. I haven’t tried out their Lux Lipstick formula and this collab makes me want to get around to it!
MAC / Everything from the Strobing collection looks stunning. Personally I can’t look past the idea of getting MAC Fix+ (or a more affordable option) and just dumping in some pigment like people have been doing for ages. If you’re into this product, check out the Sephora Collection Perfection Mist highlight as an alternative. One that I do have my eye on is the Iconic London Glow Prep Set Glow spray. It half way fulfills my need for a spray on bronzer… still upset about Sephora Collection discontinuing theirs. Mac also came out with a nice addition to their line up with the new shades of Strobe Cream. I’ve had a few samples of the strobe cream and love it as a glowy makeup base. If you have dry skin I think these are an awesome primer.
As far as the MAC x Patrick Starrr Collection, while the products are beautiful and I love the colors they chose, I haven’t been wearing many purple and magenta lipsticks for awhile now and am covered in the eyeshadow category for those with my Viseart Dark Mattes palette. I love Patrick though and I still kind of want to get his powder from his first launch with MAC one day.
Lastly I just wanted to say that I’m so happy they finally added Whisper of Gilt to the line permanently! It was getting so annoying having it flicker in rarely with limited edition collections.
That’s all I’ve really been eyeing as far as I can remember at the moment. I hope I didn’t come off too negative with some of these. They would be great buys for many people, but not for me. If you’ve tried any of these or are looking forward to them, I’d love to hear how they worked out for you. Thank you so much for reading.
