A few weeks ago I did a post about faking semi-permanent makeup. I’ve kept a lot of aspects of that routine, but added in a few more makeup products. This post is also stemming from learning how to do my faux tan freckles over makeup. It’s a no-foundation style makeup routine that looks done but not heavy and lasts on my oily skin. I also have a highlight on my Instagram, @kimandmakeup of this routine in action under “face routine”. I’ve put a couple product recommendations for each step so it looks like more than it really is.
I’m calling this a favorites post too because these are my must haves of the moment.
PREP
On clean skin, I hydrate with Ponds Dry Skin Cream. Once that sinks in a little bit, I follow up with Neutrogena Active Sport sunscreen. I’ve found that it gives a healthy look without being greasy at all- ideal. Under my eyes I apply Elf Prep & Hydrate Balm or Tula Rose Glow Balm. To top it off I use a skin mist- either Heritage Rosewater or Wet n Wild Coconut Primer Water
PREP PART 2
– If it’s a night out or long day and I need this to really hold up, I use a matte primer like Wet n Wild Matte. If you have dry or normal skin, though, skip the matte primer and opt for something with more hydrating properties. I love ELF Poreless Putty, Mac Yellow Radiance, Milk Hydrogrip, and Smashbox Primerizer.
– Then I apply Loreal Glotion or Age Lift Serum. Both are tinted lotions that make my face match my self tanned neck and chest.
– Lastly I dot on Ulta Under Eye primer. I also love the Becca Brightening Corrector.
SKIN
– Urban Decay Naked Skin Color Correcting Fluid in Pink or Maybelline Age Rewind Brightener
– Set the under eyes with Elf Soft Luminance powder
– Set face with Coty Airspun Powder
– Buff Maybelline Fit Me Loose Powder all over to even skin tone. I use 20 Light Medium
– Bronze with Nars Casino, Urban Decay Beached Bronzer, or Mac Dark Deep and attempt a little nose contouring.
– NYX Day Dream blush – I like a lot of blush on my cheeks, and a little on my nose and forehead. I also use the blush and bronzer in my crease and lower lashline
– Brighten under eyes with Mac NC20 or Bare Minerals Well Rested
BROWS & EYES
–Maybelline Tattoo Studio Brow Gel with a brow brush & Elf wax stick to set it in place
– Curl lashes & apply mascara. I’m loving Essence False Lash Effect Princess mascara and Maybelline Lash Stiletto. L’oreal Voluminous primer is a must too.
FRECKLES
This self tan looks great over powder. I apply the faux tan freckles with my brow brush, and also put some on my brows and as a lip liner.
HIGHLIGHT
After setting my face with Makeup Revolution Sport, I apply a strong inner corner and brow highlight, and a very soft cheek highlight. I switch between a lot of highlight shades, but Becca definitely has one of my favorite formulas. I use Champagne Pop or Opal. I dust more Coty Airspun powder over my whole face to control oil and carve out under my contour. I also like to dust some ELF Soft Luminance powder because it gives an Instagram story Paris filter- like effect.
FINAL TOUCHES
