Lip Combination I Love | Kim&Makeup

Up until now, I had always associated metallic lipsticks with very sheer washes of patchy sparkle chunks- not my thing.  However, new formulas out by Colourpop, Kylie Cosmetics, Milani, and more have been changing that.  Personally I am much more of a matte girl, but with so many glittery finishes coming out, I wanted to test out the trend.  As much as I’d love to wear the black metallic KyMajesty Kylie Lip Kit, it’s pretty hard to pull off. As you can probably tell, I kept it really subtle by creating this nude lip.

Make Up For Ever 3C Lip Pencil + MAC Pretty Please

For this subtle metallic lip, I grabbed MAC Pretty Please lipstick.  This color is a lustre finish that isn’t TOO frosty.  Lustres usually aren’t my thing because I have a difficult time straying from mattes.  Pretty Please is such a gorgeous pale pink, but I don’t reach for it too often because of the shimmery sheer finish.  This shade is the only MAC lustre I own.  I definitely will be using it more often now that I have realized how amazing it looks on top of a liner.

To get the fuller coverage I like from a lipstick, I paired it with my favorite lip liner formula of ALL TIME: Make Up For Ever 3C Medium Natural Beige Aqua Lip Waterproof Lipliner Pencil.  This pencil is ridiculously good- opaque, long lasting, great color payoff, not too creamy, not too hard.  I went for a medium nude shade to ensure the lip didn’t get washed out since Pretty Please is fairly light.

Now that I’m writing this, I realize I got such a great result by pairing one of my least favorite formulas (MAC lustre) with my top pick formula (MUF liner).  Opposites attract I guess.

While mattes will always been nearest and dearest to me, this lip combo makes me want to try more lip liner combos topped with metallic finishes!
