Sephora Collection Cream Lip Stain Review & Swatches

Sephora recently released new shades of their matte liquid lipsticks. I was excited for this release because I have heard great things about the formula. I never bought any of the original colors because but the shade selection sucked. The new collection of Sephora Cream Lip Stains are absolutely gorgeous, and I scooped up a few online.

I bought the shades 24 Burnt Sienna, 23 Copper Blush, 39 Frozen Strawberry, and 43 Crimson Crush. These shades are in the same brownish nude color family, typical me. I wore Burnt Sienna out on Saturday and it held up very well. It wasn’t patchy to apply, didn’t need to be touched up more than once (as far as I remember), and was VERY comfortable. In the photos below, I’m wearing 39 Frozen Strawberry- a light greyish pink nude. This one is extremely comfortable too. Check out my swatches in my weird bathroom lighting, then by my window to see 24, 23, 39, and 43. They dry down fully matte.

I have two nitpicky little negative points about these though.

  1. I don’t like that the tubes only have a number on them. I like names! The names are only on the website… it can get confusing if you are addicted to lipsticks and have quite a few.
  2. The other problem is that they are called “Cream Lip Stain”. That sounds like a moisturizing, transferring, non matte lip product that is a stain. They are a matte liquid lipstick. Am I the only person confused by that?

Oh well. Neither of these things will prevent me from buying more. Some other shades I have in my Sephora basket/ wishlist right now are 21 Pretty Beige, 42 Rosewood, 41 Vintage Rosewood, 45 Chai Latte, and 26 Pretty Auburn. Basically I want all the brownish/ nude/ brick colors. I’m not too much of a bright lipstick person these days. I would compare this formula to my all time favorites- Ofra and Smashbox All On Liquid Mattes. Good job Sephora! These are priced at $14 each. I am so happy that there is a product that is affordable and GREAT quality. Thank goodness they are permanent too!  Are there any colors from the collection you are wanting?
