Kylie Vacation Nude Matte Lipsticks

Something happened that I didn’t expect… I fell deeply in love with a Kylie Cosmetics product.

When the new vacation collection released, I was watching her snapchats like usual, admiring the simple trendy packaging and seeing the usual shimmery swatches, but not expecting much. Eyeshadow palette- meh, glow powders- meh, glitter gloss- nah, and so on.  When she swatched her new matte liquid lipsticks though, I perked up. These weren’t the Kylie x KKW collection that were an odd cream formula that all looked the same color.  These weren’t a set with a gorgeous nude thrown into three other bright colors I wouldn’t use.

I’ve said before that I could be swayed to retry her lip products with the right color, which is what happened here.  Usually when I love a shade from a lipstick collection but don’t want to purchase from the particular brand for whatever reason, I do research into dupes. Temptalia.com is so fun to search dupes on, but she doesn’t review many Kylie products unfortunately.  All the nudes in the “Send me More Nudes” collection looked like something I’d wear and honestly I couldn’t decide which one I liked the most, so it wasn’t going to be a let’s just-get-a-dupe situation.

Comparison swatches to Kylie Exposed

These matte liquids are the epitome of perfect nude shades to me. Ultra light, and just a couple undertones different enough to all be worth getting. Kylie liquid lipsticks aren’t my favorite formula. I’ve only kept Exposed out of the past four colors that I’ve bought, and I don’t reach for it all that often.  These ones have the same formula of course, but they are worth working with for me because of the colors! I have been so into ultra-light nudes lately so these are actually my favorites of my entire liquid lipstick collection at the moment.  That is saying a lot!

Application

While I’m doing my makeup I use chapstick to moisturize my lips, and when I’m about halfway through my face routine I put on Mac Prep + Prime Lip Primer. I like to have that soak in and set before I put on the liquid lipstick. This lipstick goes on with great opacity with one swipe but does sink into lines so I try to make sure to stretch my lips by opening my mouth wider to make sure it won’t break up after I’m talking.

If you can’t handle drying lipsticks, these aren’t for you. If you don’t like mattes, there is a “velvets” collection with the same shades that gives a more satin formula that doesn’t dry down.  Personally I like the matte formula that doesn’t transfer and wears longer. “Beauty is pain” right? I’ll sacrifice some comfort for a product I love.

These are a collection staple for a nude lipstick lover. Since I’ve had them I have been wearing them nonstop and love having four ultra light nudes to go with my makeup looks.  I can barely pick a favorite of the bunch, but if I had to I’d go with Bare. I love them all equally though!!
