Khaki Eyes, Gold Flash Highlight, Mascara PSA

I wanted to share this makeup look because I strayed away from my typical warm orange/ red/ brown mattes eyeshadow for once. I’ve talked about that sandy- Bobbi Brown Camel matte color that I absolutely love pairing with a gold lid.  It is one of my favorite shades to wear when I’m tan and it inspired me to create this look.

I’m going to try to describe the color but it may be a struggle. It’s like a brownish chartreuse or a tan with green undertones. Not quite olive green, but more khaki tan. I really like how it went with my greyish blue eyes and it was something new for me, which is exciting when you feel like you’ve tried every neutral matte look there is to try.

I achieved this look by mixing a few eyeshadows to get the color I wanted and add lots of depth- Makeup Geek Preppy was the star of the show, but it was also assisted by Makeup Geek Desert Sands, Tiki Hut, Looxi Wheatness, and ABH custard for a light transition shade. On my lid I patted on a touch of ABH Hollywood from the Mario palette. This shade is a butter color with a satin finish that I hadn’t found a use for until now. It kept it almost- matte but with a little dimension.

To go with the greenish khaki theme, I used Looxi Stiletto highlight on my inner corner and cheekbones. Stiletto has that cool greenish yellow gold shift that shines when you move.  I was inspired to pull this highlight back out when I saw the new Becca Pearl Flashes Gold highlight. I almost bought it until I realized I have quite a few highlights that look the exact same. Looxi Stiletto is the perfect dupe. More would be ABH Marshmallow, Colourpop Glazed, or Makeup Geek Electrify.  These all have a creamy ivory base with a yellow gold reflect.

COMPLEXION | YSL touche eclat foundation (loving a sample of this that I have), BECCA brightening undereye highlight, AMAZINGCOSMETICS concealer, TARTE unfiltered light powder all over, BAREMINERALS well rested under eyes, MAYBELLINE fit me mocha contour, LORAC prism blush, LOOXI stiletto highlight, URBAN DECAY velvetizer all over

BROWS | ABH auburn pomade, NYX control freak

EYES| MAC primer, MAKEUPGEEK preppy, desert sands, & tiki hut crease/ lid, corrupt outer corner, LOOXI wheatness, ABH custard transition, Hollywood lid, SEPHORA matte white waterline, NYC liquid liner for wing, LOREAL miss manga rock mascara + NYX Control Freak Brow Gel over that, KOKO queen b lashes

LIP| NYX Nude Beige liner+ KYLIE Bare

Now onto the VERY IMPORTANT PART– I have discovered a way to make mascara STOP SMUDGING UNDER MY EYES! I never thought the day would come. Everytime I wear my makeup I am constantly dabbing under my eyes, trying to clean up the mascara that transfers under there as the day goes on. When I’m just running errands and have bare minimum makeup, I skip mascara on lower lashes because I know it will just leave me with raccoon eyes. It’s unavoidable and really annoying because I prefer the look of emphasizing my lower lashes with mascara. People comment “you have mascara underneath” and I thank them for letting me know and go about ruining my concealer with my fingers. It’s sick and basically the makeup equivalent of having spinach stuck in your teeth.

Not anymore. I had tried Maybelline Great Lash clear mascara as a top coat for mascara to rectify this problem and it didn’t work.  I happened to try NYX Control Freak clear brow gel this past Friday before going over to a friend’s place for drinks. I couldn’t believe it when I checked my face and didn’t have mascara all over my cheeks. The next day I did my makeup for going out to lunch and had the same immaculate results. It felt like I was dreaming. I hope this helps someone out there that struggles with the oily skin- mascara smudging issue. Bless you NYX!!  Just do your normal mascara coats, wait for them to almost completely dry, then do one or two layers of NYX Control Freak.

I do believe all the concepts you have offered on your post.
They’re really convincing and will certainly
work. Still, the posts are very brief for novices. May just you please prolong
them a little from subsequent time? Thank you for the post.
