It has been about a year since I updated my go to matte single shadows palette. Since then I’ve added a few colors and changed the magnetic palette I use. I now have the Make Up For Ever XL size palette.  It was the biggest one I could find, holding 32 shadows.  I used to use a Z Palette that I now keep some shimmers and random colors that don’t fit in this one. I use my matte singles palette almost every time I do my makeup. The only time I don’t is when I make an effort not to- sometimes I challenge myself to use just one palette to create a look just for fun.  You can tell by the photos that I love warm shades- especially anything red and orange. I also have a row just for yellowy caramel browns at the top because I have been so obsessed with using those.

From last time, one of the main changes that I made were to take out a few of the transition shades I had. I finally realized that they don’t really make a huge difference for the end result so all I needed to have was Peach Smoothie for my red-toned looks, and Custard for my Caramel-ish looks. Removing some of the other light tan transition shades that I had made room for more deep colors.

The main brands in the palette are mostly Makeup Geek, some Morphe from the new Jaclyn Hill palette, two by Anastasia Beverly Hills, one by MAC that I barely touch because it’s cool toned but every once in awhile I use it for a nice grey, and Looxi Beauty Wheatness- my favorite yellowy brown of all time.

Next up I’ll be doing a post on my favorite shimmery shadows! If you are doing your own matte palette and came here for ideas on shadows I hope this helped a bit. I highly recommend the Tarte Pro Magnetic Palette over Z Palettes- it has a mirror and is sturdier. I have this $10 camo nine pan one that has to be the cutest one I’ve ever seen.

Right!? No one talks about it. There is also one called “Wild Animal” that is leopard print and holds more shadows 🙂
