Lauren Conrad Inspired Simple Makeup Look

So lately I’ve been coming home after work, making dinner, and watching two or three episodes of The Hills. I was all about MTV reality shows back in the day like any girl my age, and The Hills was so amazing because there was no crazy social media blasting like there is today. All we had was Myspace and it was a pure space for posting awful high contrast selfies and quizzes on our favorite dog breeds. Reality stars today know to censor themselves or they will be torn apart on twitter, facebook, snapchat, tmz, E! News, etc. Anyway, the show is amazing and all the seasons are available on Amazon.

I was in love with their hair styles back then and I definitely damaged my hair with bleach to get streaks of my own inspired by the girls, but I wasn’t as into makeup as I am today. When it came to makeup my philosophy was the more shimmery bronzer the better, and that’s about it. I still use too much bronzer, but now I can appreciate the techniques and style that they were using.

It’s crazy how much makeup styles have changed! Audrina did some awesome smokey eyes, but for Lauren, Heidi, and Whitney, it was basically just powder, bronzer, mascara, and Lauren did her famous cat eye liner.  Such a simpler time- no false lashes, primers, contour, brows, highlight, cut creases, and all the rest of steps we do now.

It has been forever since I did my makeup without at least a matte gradient eyeshadow, but doing this look took me back to my later high school and early college days. For this makeup look, I didn’t just stick to a super minimal routine like they probably had back then.  This is my 2017 spin on a look inspired by the show. The best part is it was SO easy and took half the time my makeup usually does. I spend a lot of time on eyeshadow, so cutting that out was a big time saver. Since they always looked so bronze and one dimensional without highlight and bronzer, I just tried to keep the look cohesive by not going super light on highlighting and trying to use neutral blush and lip color.  I love how this turned out and will definitely be doing the no- shadow look more often. I can’t wait to try the same look with a berry lip and lashes to keep it simple but glam it up more.

Complexion| Loreal True Match, Becca Under Eye corrector, Maybelline age rewind concealer, Lorac Porefection powder, Benefit Hoola, Urban Decay beached bronzer, Nars Goule blush, Colourpop wisp & Mac Soft & Gentle

Eye| Tarte tartelette in bloom palette, NYC liquid liner, Essence I<3Extreme + False Lash Effect princess mascara, Urban Decay walk of shame on waterline, mac soft & gentle inner corner

Brow| ABH Auburn dipbrow pomade, Nyx control freak, L’oreal brow stylist gel

Lip|MUFE 3c liner + Maybelline Beach Babe lipstick

I hope you enjoyed this post! I love getting inspired to switch up my makeup and in this case actually simplifying it.  Lauren just had her new baby so I thought it was a great time to make this post!

I love the look you created. I was just binge watching Laguna Beach last week. Those shows will always be some of my favorites.

Thank you!! Honestly I can’t decide whether I liked The Hills or Laguna more haha

I think they’re both so unique in their own way. I feel so nostalgic when I watch Laguna Beach, like I’m in high school again (I wasn’t in HS when it came out), it just makes me feel young. But when I rewatch the Hills now it almost feels a little relatable, I love it!

Now that I think of it I bet I’m so into the hills lately because I can actually relate to them more now that I’m older! 🙂

I loved The Hills and Laguna Beach! I also wasn’t too into makeup yet at that time, but this was a great idea to look back and try out looks I loved when I was younger!
