Maroon Liquid Lipsticks + Makeup Look

It’s mid August and I’m so ready for summer to be over. Yesterday I went to Fred Meyer and walked around the fall decor and candle aisles… I’m over the hot weather. In the spirit of fall approaching, I swatched the maroon lipstick shades in my collection. The collaboration of Dose of Colors and Desi & Katy coming out today made me really want the shade Savage, but I don’t think I need it after swatching all these. It seems like Sephora Collection Crimson Crush is dark enough to look the same as Savage when applied.  I definitely recommend looking at your collection and doing some swatches when you’re feeling like buying a new lip color!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Heathers / This is my favorite shade of the bunch, but the worst formula sadly. This was the first ABH liquid lip I ever purchased, and it comes out of the tube so thickly on the applicator. It has always performed like this, so it can’t be because mine is getting old. It is pretty messy to apply to the lips honestly, so I don’t really reach for it. To apply this, I need to fully fill in my lips with a liner before putting on the liquid. It also applied a bit streaky. Not all my ABH liquid lipsticks perform like this, so if you buy this color more recently it may be better.

Sephora Collection 43 Crimson Crush / Fab formula, fab color. When I bought this color I did not expect it to be so dark, but it almost looks like a blackened red purple. I wore this on Sunday for a few hours and absolutely LOVED the color.  It has strong plum purple undertones and a little red as you can see.   I have this shade on in the photos below.

Kat Von D Vampira / Another streaky one, but beautiful deep shade. I have fallen out of love with the KVD Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks the more I try other formulas, but they are not unwearable. I have to admit that I would definitely reach for Sephora Crimson Crush over this one honestly.

Urban Decay Rock Steady / A little lighter than the rest, but a beautiful rich red. This one stayed on the longest of the swatches. I put them on my arm Saturday night, and it is Monday morning right now. I can still see remnants of Rock Steady on my arm… after a few showers, scrubbing with micellar water, and a workout. This is drying and a little streaky to apply, but once you have it on you are set for a very long time. I love the color so much!

Sephora Collection 42 Rosewood / Perfect crimson color if you don’t want to go blackened red level of darkness.

It was fun to swatch all of these together because it helped me see all the undertones together and compare the formulas.  The Sephora Collection liquid lipsticks are definitely my favorite formula of all time.

After staring at all these beautiful wine- colored reds, I had to put one on. I love how it turned out, and I can’t wait to wear this makeup look out instead of just sitting in my apartment with it. After I took photos I popped off  my lashes, wiped off the dark red lip, and put on a nude for going to Fred Meyer lol… wasn’t in the mood for a dramatic lip look at noon on a Sunday.
