My Sephora Sale Haul | SPRING 2017

Processed with VSCO with s2 preset

It’s that time of year! For this post I’m breaking down each item that I purchased during the bi-annual 15% off Sephora VIB rouge sale. There are some things I have been waiting for this sale to purchase and some that were more like irresponsible off the cuff splurge decisions.

MAKE UP FOR EVER Brow Liner / I picked this up in the color Brown 30 after seeing it recommended by Polina (PBBunny) on Youtube. I can already say it is fabulous. It’s literally a liquid liner to do your brows with, which sounds terrifying, but works. It makes perfect hair brush strokes and blends out well with a spoolie.

Olive Green & Gold Makeup Tutorial

Happy Friday! Today I wanted to share a super easy look I created using mostly the Master Palette by Mario from Anastasia Beverly Hills. If you don’t have this palette, it’s totally dupe-able with other shadows so no worries.  I’m totally comfortable when it comes to using color if it’s a red eyeshadow look, but green is a bit tougher for me. Olive green is such a beautiful basic color that I wear a lot of clothing- wise, and I’m trying to get myself to put it on my eyes more often. This look was a bit shaky in my opinion, but it turned out ok. I also filmed the makeup look!

Wearable Terracotta Lip Colors

There are a ton of variations of the meaning of “nude” when it comes to lipsticks. Neutral, beige, mauve, brown, tan, and more words are used to describe colors with cool, warm, and neutral undertones. I like trying out different undertones on my lips depending on the look, and I honestly can’t pick a favorite color family. When someone is describing the color of a nude lipstick, ultimately it is necessary to just see it on their skin tone because of the overuse of so many of those descriptive words.

Recently I was rifling through my collection looking at my lipsticks that lean on the terracotta, coral, or orange side. I was looking for a dupe of the recent shade released by Jeffree Star Cosmetics, I’m Shook. The color is described as a “burnt coral”. It looked beautiful in photos and was the first coral color I have seen possibly ever that looked like something I could pull off. Peach and bright pink corals are usually a no- go on me and make my teeth look yellow. My skin is reddish naturally so that also may have something to do with it.

Cut Crease Chronicles Vo.2

Last week I made another attempt at a cut crease. It has been a long time since I attempted one (last summer!!) because they are extremely challenging for me and I had pretty much given up.  I switched up my technique and tried out a new shape and it turned out much better than last time.

Wishlist Wednesday: Blush Pink

I finally was bit with the #tumblrpink aesthetic bug that every brand is putting out lately, and am in the process of replacing everything in my life with this color. (Jk kinda) Just looking around me as I write this, I’d love to have a magic color changing wand like the fairies in Sleeping Beauty to wave at my white mug, navy Longchamp, my black planner, and my nails. Everything looks better pink! I’ll probably be over this and back to my neutrals, dark, and earthy colors when fall comes back around, but for now I’m shopping everything pink. It works surprisingly well as a neutral I have come to find out. I love doing these wishlist posts because they satisfy my shopping mood without actually spending anything.

Amazon Fashion & Fitness Favorites

Happy Monday! We all know that fashion trends come and go, so if I like something name brand that is out of my budget, I search the internet for a dupe instead of buying the real thing. The trick is to just type in a description of what you want instead of the name of the shoe. “Western ankle bootie” is an example. Some of these products are shipped from out of the country and take a bit longer to arrive, but they are worth the wait!  There are a few benefits to using Amazon rather than other retailers:

  1. Amazon is great because some name brand products are on there for a lower price, rather than getting it from another store and paying the markup.
  2. Around the holiday season, Amazon fashion has tons of coupon codes and lowered prices.
  3. Using Amazon’s checkout process for payment and shipping information is easier than at a website or store you aren’t familiar with.
  4. Prime delivery!

Prices and stock varies on Amazon so bear with me on some of these links.

Skincare Rant & Origins Review

Processed with VSCO with c4 preset

Origins

Lately Asian skincare, Deciem, and The Ordinary have been more tempting than ever before to me because they have focused active ingredients at lower prices. Even a brand like Lush with all natural ingredients and wheat/minerals/fruit etc. in them aren’t doing all that much for the skin. Chemicals aren’t all bad- they’re targeted and effective in the right amounts.  Putting tea tree oil on a zit or mixing up yogurt and eye whites for a DIY mask isn’t always the most effective way to treat skin problems.  It’s difficult to know what will actually work for skincare. For example, the other day I saw a powder meant to mix into smoothies claiming to boost collagen. Collagen can’t be absorbed effectively in that method, so it is pointless.

Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse Review

Today’s post is a review of the Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse foundation. This product has been around since 2005!  I was a baby eighth grader when it was released and used to be a loyal customer back then. I recently picked up Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse after seeing Casey Holmes mention it in her March favorites video. I haven’t used this foundation since freshman or sophomore year of highschool, so I was looking forward to seeing why this was popping back up.

Pale Pink Inspired Makeup & Lip Combo I Love

Lately I’ve been in love with the color light pink. I don’t usually find myself drawn to this girly color, but something about is so pretty for spring and just looking at it makes me happy. My makeup was inspired by this and I incorporated light pink by adding rosey crease shades, Urban Decay’s duochrome pinky peach shadow Fireball on the lid, topped with Stila Dusty Rose Magnificent Metals shadow.  I feel like I’m describing some kind of dessert I came up with… but I love how this turned out! I haven’t loved my makeup this much in quite awhile, and washing it off was a bit of a bummer.  Read the rest of this entry »

Too Faced Pink Leopard Blushing Bronzer / There’s a part of me that can’t help but love Too Faced cutesy packaging. Many of their products are quite gimmicky, and I thought this was going to be one of them. Once I finally swatched it though, I decided to purchase it from Sephora. I like to use it as blush or swirl it all over my face to give myself a glow and blend my makeup.
