I try to do a mask once or twice a week at least. I have found a few that I absolutely love and aren’t overpriced. I can confidently recommend all of these for oily acne prone skin.
Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay Mask / This is a lifetime supply product. Add equal parts apple cider vinegar to about ¾ of a teaspoon of the powder and you have a mask that tightens and pulls ALL the gunk out in about 20 minutes. It gets so tight you feel a pulsing from the blood going to your face. It’s intense! This is a must have for clogged pores. I ordered this in 2015 and it’s still pretty much full. Make sure to moisturize after using this one because it’s pretty intense.Peter Thomas Roth Pumpkin Enzyme Mask / This one has AHA so it stings for a few moments right when you apply it, but those acids are great for congested skin. It feels very hydrating at the same time, and I’m a pumpkin addict so the smell of this one gets me. It is described as a “resurfacer” which is totally true. It feels like I’ve just had a facial peel afterwards. The link is for a WAY reduced price on Amazon. Don’t get overcharged at Sephora!
Jack Black Glycolic Deep Dive Facial Cleanser / Love that this is a two in one product. There’s no burning or stinging with this ash mask and the glycolic acid is lightly exfoliating.
Derma-E 2 in 1 Purifying Charcoal mask / Activated Charcoal attracts toxins, and when I use this I find that blackheads come up to the surface the next day, ready to be extracted more easily. Sorry that’s gross I know but I love that it’s pulling out the crap that is sitting deep in my skin!
I wash them off with my hands and warm water, then go in with a piping hot washcloth to steam my face and exfoliate my skin. Don’t skimp on masking- it definitely makes a difference and pampering yourself is never a bad thing. Read about the rest of my oily skincare routine here.

I try to do a weekly mask too but sometimes I’m just lazy. I love the Queen Helene Mint Julep mask. It’s a classic and it works. I also love the mattifying & anti-blemish green tea sheet masks from Sephora. I just got some charcoal sheet masks from The Creme Shop (great Korean skincare brand) that I can’t wait to try.
