Huda Beauty New Nude Palette | Review & Look

So, I caved and bought the new Huda Beauty New Nude palette during the recent Sephora sale.  I tried to resist and tell myself it wasn’t necessary, but I failed obviously. I’ve been wanting a pink and cranberry themed palette, and this turned out to be the perfect one.

I went to Sephora and was overwhelmed by all the beautiful palettes out currently. ABH Sultry, Huda Beauty New Nude, Too Faced Gingerbread, Natasha Denona Gold. I had too much fun swatching them all. If you’ve ever swatched a palette in store after a lot of other people have, you’ll know how well shimmers swatch. All the oils (nasty) from everyone’s hands have make the shimmer eyeshadows basically a cream, and they look ultra creamy and shiny.  This was definitely the case for a lot of the palettes that I was looking at. Sultry was beautiful in person and I almost got that, but so many of the shades will look similar on the eye and I have a lot of golden bronze colors in my collection already.

The crystal/ sequin- looking shimmers in the Huda New Nude palette are beautiful. What sold me on the palette was the mattes. The selection of cool and warm toned pinks and purples ranging from light to dark provide some new colors in my eyeshadow collection.  I love wearing pink and mauves on my eyes, so I’ll get a lot of use out of these.

I feel like this is a really good palette for everyday neutral looks, but also has some color to play around with. As this is my first Huda Beauty purchase, I didn’t know exactly what to expect with application.  The mattes blend well, and I find that they give a lighter wash of color until you build them up, which is easy to do. They seem less powdery than Anastasia, Kat Von D, or Makeup Geek eyeshadows, but still pigmented.  Not better, or worse, just different!

I knew when I bought it that I wouldn’t like the two pressed glitters in the second row, Excite & Infatuated. They’re just not the type of eyeshadow I like to wear and are almost like a body glitter? I wish those had been switched out for more colors of the other shimmer formula the palette has. That’s personal preference though so maybe I just haven’t thought of a good look to incorporate them with. There is a third shimmer formula in the palette, Kinky, the magenta in the second row. It’s more like a “normal” shimmer and applied well with a damp brush. I’m in love with Crave, the golden shimmer with pink and green sparkle. It applied well over Nyx glitter glue with my finger. Using a dampened brush didn’t work with it.  I felt like I needed to swatch these in person before buying them, and they didn’t disappoint.

The overall theme of the colors in the palette are beautiful and many of the shades look more cool toned than I’ve been seeing from other palette releases lately. I can’t wait to keep creating looks with this and I’ll be getting lots of use from it over the holidays.

I love this first look you created! I also purchased this palette on Friday during the sale, and I just posted my review with six looks. So far I am loving this palette a lot. And the glitters actually totally worked out for me! Besides some creasing, which I guess I wasn’t surprised about. But for a first venture into glitter for me, it was a positive experience.

Thank you! I’ll have to do some more experimenting with those Excite & Infatuated to try to make them work.

I swatched this palette at Sephora too! And I agree, I definitely wasn’t a fan of the chunky glitter shades, just based on the texture alone LOL .. also, loving the look you created! I think it looks amazing with your hair and perfectly contrasts your eyes 🙂

Thank you so much!! Yes, I wish I could take out those two weird shades and have more pink shimmers.
