Current Minimal Work Makeup Routine

Recently I’ve found the perfect work makeup to do with a minimal amount of effort  Most days I just moisturize & apply sunscreen, sometimes adding mascara. I like having these in my car though in case I’m going somewhere after work or have a meeting where I want to look nice.  I can do it in ~5 minutes in the parking lot when I get to the office. I admit that when I have makeup on and feel cuter, I definitely feel more assertive! Odd but it’s true for me. I feel like I really have focused in on some key steps that make a difference in how I look that doesn’t require a lot of time or products.  This is my current throw on and go into the office look.

Steps

Skincare

I start with washing my face with Panoxyl after working out.  It is so great for preventing and treating acne and I’ve gotten my boyfriend hooked on it as well.  We always keep it stocked in the house! Next up is moisturizing. A little dab of Ponds goes a very long way. It is extremely hydrating and makes my skin feel plump and soft throughout the day.  After that, I put on SPF- either Neutrogena Hydro Boost SPF 30 or if I’ve fake tanned my body, I use Jergens Natural Glow Face. Jergens is a moisturizer all on it’s own, but I still use it over the Ponds for extra moisture.

Complexion

Usually I’m done with my face after moisturizer and sunscreen.  But if I’m wanting a little more coverage or am in the mood to put on some makeup for work, I’ve been LOVING the Cetaphil tinted moisturizer. They need to expand the shade range, because there’s only one that I know of and it matches me, which obviously doesn’t cut it for the rest of the world.  It drastically reduces my redness and just looks like I have naturally perfect skin. I can throw it on with my hands without using a primer or brush, so it’s the easiest thing ever.

I’m a greaseball, so I’ve gotta powder. ELF translucent pressed powder does the job and is cheap.  I pack it on all over my face to help everything stay in place. If I don’t use it I’m guaranteed to have my mascara half way down my face.

Next up I need coverage and some color to even out my skin with Maybelline Fit Me Matte pressed powder.  I love the loose version of this as well, but I’m doing all this in my car (parked!!) so the pressed version doesn’t make a mess.  I also go over my eyelids with this to erase any redness in that area.

Last up I spray Ulta matte setting spray.  With this particular spray, I like to use a lot.

Brows

ELF’s wax stick is awesome because I don’t need a sharpener for it. I run it over my brows and brush them up with a spoolie. I like how it almost gives a soap brow appearance but without using much of anything.

Wearing Cetaphil redness tinted moisturizer

After trying out a few different looks, I find that winged liner gives me the most dramatic look with the littlest effort. Right now I’m using the Kat Von D pen just because I have a free sample that I need to finish up, but NYX matte ink is my favorite.  I prefer a brush tip over pen tip. The Kat Von D one is barely black, and I have to go over it again and again to make it show up. Glad it was free!

Lastly I curl my lashes and apply Maybelline Full N’ Soft mascara. This is the first bottle of this that I’ve tried. Once I run out of this I’ll be keeping the Maybelline Lash Stiletto in my work bag instead- I find that it applies beautifully without a primer. Full N’ Soft is really nice, but works best over Loreal Lash Primer, which is an extra step that I’m not trying to add in for this simple look.

If I have an extra moment, I’ll add some highlight to my inner corners and cheekbones to brighten up my face. I use the Laura Geller peach glow because it works on me no matter how tan or pale I happen to be that day.

So that’s twelve things that I keep in a bag in my car including the skincare. I don’t always use everything though- pretty often it’s just Ponds, Cetaphil Tinted Moisturizer, ELF translucent powder, mascara. Just that feels like I’ve made a little effort and look more alive. Thank you for reading!!
