There have been a few new practices that I’ve been incorporating into my beauty/ daily routine lately that I wanted to go through. These are pretty much favorites lately, but I didn’t feel like they fit into my typical monthly favorites. I’ll just get into it.
- Braiding my hair at night / I’m always looking for ways to extend the length of time between washing my hair, and I’ve found that putting it in braids disguises grease while giving me a wavy look. I do one braid per side, and it keeps my hair out of my face while I’m sleeping. I’ve been seeing a lot of girls using a waver, and I wish I hadn’t thrown mine out back in the day! Might have to give it a try again, but braiding gives a similiar look without heat damage.
- Growing out my nails / Usually I trim my nails down pretty short, but one day I let them get a little bit more length to them. It was fun to switch it up for a different nail look, but definitely took a little longer to paint them than I’d like. When I say long, I mean like just barely past the tips of my fingers, nothing crazy.
- Washing my hair with cold water / I used to wash my hair with freezing cold water when it was more bold red, but over time I stopped caring as much. I’m back to the colder temperatures now not as much to keep the red, but more so to make my hair shiny. It seriously adds shine to the cuticle when I use cold vs. hot water, and with having highlights I’m all about making it as healthy and shiny- looking as I can.
- Weights / I’m so back and forth on getting to my weights routine. I do some simple kettlebell workouts in my garage and it hurts for days afterward. I love how strong I feel when I’m consistent with it, even though I barely feel like I know what I’m doing.
- Exfoliating my chest / I finally realized that I should be taking care of the skin on my chest/ neck. I’ve been making an effort to moisturize those areas, as well as exfoliating my chest in the shower. I tanned a lot a few years back, and it definitely shows on my chest. I’m so thankful I was smart enough to cover my face with a towel!
- Matching two items of clothing / This is a nerdy one so bear with me. Sometimes I feel like I have a lot of cute clothes, but don’t know how to pair them together. Chris Delia had his brother on his podcast, and he mentioned that he always makes sure two things he is wearing match. Ever since I listened to that, I do that too. Right now my outfit is a blush bomber jacket, olive green jeans, white tee, and white sneakers. I feel like it looks coordinated because of the white tee & sneakers, rather than cluttered if I had on black sneakers or something. I even bought some skinny belts in grey, tan, blush, brown, black, etc. from Target so that I can use them as my matching pieces. This sounds very odd as I type it but I promise it helps put outfits together! Check out Chris Delia’s podcast Congratulations if you haven’t yet.
That’s it for now, I’ll be doing a favorites post at the end of this month so look out for that to hear about more things I’ve been doing/ liking lately.
