Current Go To Makeup

You know how some people get a ton of procedures done to make their faces look good with minimal effort? I’m talking about semi- permanent treatments like microbladed brows, velvet lips (basically microbladed lip color), lash extensions, cheekbone filler, etc..I love the look of looking so good without doing any added makeup. I don’t have the budget for all those treatments though, so I’m trying all the other methods to do it. I wanted to talk about makeup products that give that full glam effect with minimal effort.

Skin

In my last post I talked about faux tan freckles. I’m still majorly on that kick and my face feels naked without them. It has been a learning process to do makeup with them. They definitely look best on bare skin with just moisturizer- I can’t do them on top of foundation or they don’t look right. I have learned that they wash right off with my cleanser, so I don’t bother doing it the night before.

My routine- After washing my face I apply moisturizer, then a glowy lotion like L’oreal Visible Lift Serum Tint or L’oreal Glotion.  I’ve been enjoying the Tula Rose Glow under my eyes too. It gives a really nice cooling effect with a tiny bit of glow.  Then I apply the faux tan freckles with an eyebrow brush.

If I want to do some makeup with it for when I have an eyeshadow look on, I do a TINY bit of brightening under eye corrector or concealer right under my inner corner.  I like how it looks with a bronzed cheek, so I apply a cream or powder contour after the freckles are applied. I spray some of the Sephora Collection aerosol foundation in the dark shade on a beauty sponge and apply it to my cheeks where I bronze. Then I add a ton of blush for that cute blushy look. I obviously want the freckles and my skin to show through that blush, bronzer, and glow lotion, so it looks and feels like I have a bare face. I love the look so much because since I have such oily skin, it literally lasts all day. I get shiny, but I don’t get foundation breaking up.  I apply translucent powder at the end to deal with my oil.

Eyes

Lash extensions are pricey, and usually quite damaging. I’m asking for GrandeLash for Christmas so I plan on starting a routine of that in a few months! Right now though, I curl my lashes, and apply mascara. Loreal Voluminous, Maybelline Lash Stiletto, and Essence False Lash Effect Princess are my holy grails! After the mascara is dry, I apply Ardell 113 magnetic lashes.  If you want a more dramatic lash, I recommend the Ardell double wispies magnetic style.

Another trick is also to use Lumify eye drops. No matter how tired you are, they make it look like you’ve done Facetune whiten on your eyes to look healthy and awake.

Lips

Velvet Lips are basically semi permanent tattooed lipstick.  It’s crazy how adding lip liner makes such an improvement when doing makeup. Once I learned this, I cannot go without lip liner if I’m doing makeup. When I do makeup for weddings, I always remind the bridesmaids to reapply their lipstick and liner before pictures because it’s a huge upgrade. Even if you don’t have super amazing lips, it makes a big impact. A beautifully subtle lip liner is NYX Nude Beige. I use it on paler skin tones, or myself if I don’t really have any other makeup on. As for my go to though, I love Rimmel Epic or Milani Spice.

When I’m trying to mimic that Velvet lips look that I’m going for, I blot on a warm brownish lipstick with more pigment than my typical nude lip. Maybelline Warm Me Up, Mac Whirl or Taupe, or Anastasia Ashton are perfect. I’ve also been really into the Chapstick Moisture tinted lipstick in Hello Bordeaux. It’s moisturizing but gives a plum red stain.

Brow

While I’m applying the faux tan freckles, I paint it onto my brows as well, filling in the more bare areas.  Another option though, is using Maybelline Waterproof brow gel. It claims to give brows for up to two days, but when I wash my face it comes right off. It only would last two days if you were using a trash cleanser or weren’t washing your face very well. However, it is a really good brow gel that doesn’t move around too much, so if you struggle with dip brow wanting to slide off, try this.  The applicator on it is odd though, so I’d recommend applying it with a brow brush. I originally purchased it to see how it looks as faux freckles over foundation so I’ll report back on that. Lastly for brows, I lock them down with my favorite brow product of all time- ELF clear wax stick.

Last night I went out to a concert and it felt so great to not be worried about my foundation. Having oily skin is stressful if you like to wear a full face. I want everything to stay in place so matte products work the best, but at the same time I want to look fresh and glowing.
