Recently I was reminded June is 14 weeks away. Warmer weather means having to be in a swimsuit every once in a while, which means it’s time for a post on waxing. I’ve maintained doing bikini waxes at home since last year. It has been a game changer for avoiding ingrown hairs and razor burn. I used to be self conscious of any bumps and waxing has eliminated that.
How ingrown hairs are caused according to Google:
“Anything which causes the hair to be broken off unevenly with a sharp tip can cause ingrown hairs. Ingrown hairs are also caused because of lack of natural exfoliation in the skin.”
There are a few steps in the process to get that area smooth.
Exfoliate / Every shower I use switch off between either a chemical or physical exfoliant on the bikini line. This sheds dead skin cells that could cause a blocked pore. Cleanser here, scrub here.
Prep / I heat up the wax warmer, sit on a towel in front of a mirror, make sure you have good lighting, and put on a good show. Highly recommend Siesta Key. Some areas are easier to reach sitting down, some standing. I also do my armpits.
Tips / I turn the temperature dial a little under half way up. Apply wax in large sections rather than small, it’ll go faster. Apply it against the grain of hair growth, rip it off against the grain as well. Rip off the wax horizontally to your skin, not straight up and away.
After / I wax about every 2.5 weeks. Take this tip with a grain of salt because I saw it online… but after waxing I spritz body spray. The alcohol kills bacteria from getting into vulnerable open pores.
You’ll need:
Salicylic acid wash
Body Spray
Wax kit
Wax bead refill
Next up I need to cut my calorie intake in half to get ready for summer clothes. I’m feeling very XL when I’d like to be more of a medium. Wish me luck.
