Spray Tanning at Home

I’ve done a ton of posts on tanning methods- usually foams, lotions, and Fake Bake Flawless Darker. There’s another method I’ve been relying on lately- aerosol spray tanning. It mostly stems from laziness. Spraying myself down like I’m applying sunscreen is the fastest way I’ve found to get bronze.

How to:

  1. Exfoliate in the shower and completely let yourself dry off.
  2. Set up my tanning tent. I used to spray tan in the shower, but it creates a cloud of over spray that I’d have to wipe down off the tub while trying to avoid water drips- not ideal after spraying.  The $23 I’ve spent on the tent has been a game changer.
  3. Step into the tent and zip it up obviously, standing on a towel. Spray tan all over, coating myself to the point where I’m covered, but not dripping. I’ve linked the spray tans I like to use. Tip: I keep a mitt on hand in case I get a rogue drip and need to pat it away.
  4. Let that coat dry before putting on clothes, at least 5-10 minutes.
  5. Do one more coat of spray tan, dry off again before dressing
  6. Let the tent dry, then put it away. I was very happy to find that it was super easy to fold back up- the instructions that came with it were helpful for this.

Aerosol sprays have been around forever, but getting the tent has been making self tanning super quick and easy. One day I’d love to invest in a spray tan gun to get a professional tan at home.

I’m a pretty committed fake tanner but I must admit I’ve never thought about getting a tent. What a great idea! Do you find it hard to apply yourself though? I’m a pro with the mit but not sure if I could confidently spray myself. Having a spray gun is my dream though!! Maybe one day…

It’s pretty much the same as applying aerosol sunscreen! 🙂
