Hi! It has been forever since I have written a blog post. Life happens and I was definitely in a funk. This post will be a few beauty and lifestyle things that I have been obsessing over. I have mentioned many of these on my instagram story over the past few months- so I haven’t been completely MIA.
BEAUTY
Perfume / My Sephora does not have Kayali perfumes in stock, so I was never able to sniff this fragrance that I have been interested in for years. I finally went ahead and blind purchased a mini, and it is worth ALL the hype. I will 100% be purchasing the full size on my next Sephora order. It is the ideal vanilla vibe- not in a fall candle type of way, but still delicious. I can’t even describe how perfect it is.
Matte primer / Azelaic Acid is my new best friend for keeping makeup from sliding off of my face. After doing skincare, I dot one pump of this skincare product all over my face, then a pump of a makeup primer all over my face. Blend with a brush, then apply foundation, concealer, powders, etc. My makeup doesn’t budge all day, which is unheard of with my oily skin. MAGIC.
Concealer / I have two holy grail concealers- Bye Bye Undereye & Bare Minerals BarePro. The It Cosmetics tube will literally never be used up because a little goes a LONG way. I take a tiny dab, rub it together on my fingers to warm up the product, then apply it to my undereyes.
Lip Combo / Recently I realized that NYX nude beige lipliner is a great $4 dupe for Mac Stripdown- one of my favorite liners. I keep this liner in my makeup kit for weddings, in my purse to reapply, and at my makeup desk of course. I love to wear it with pretty much any nude lipstick, but especially Loreal Coconut Plump, and KKW Nude 1.5. (The KKW line is 50% off at Ulta right now!)
Self tan / If you know me, you know I self tan. Here are the best ones I have tried if you want to be dark – one, two. That first one is the darkest, the second one is half a shade lighter, but still perfect.
Story time! Last week I went on a trip to Lake Coeur d’Alene and planned to get a spray tan. In preparation for this, I held off on applying my self tan for 3 weeks- I was pale and hideous for this long to have a nice blank canvas for the spray. Finally it was spray tan day. I go to Palm Beach Tan and purchase a $70 dark Mystic tan. I think I have high standards for a deep bronze, because this spray tan only developed to a light medium shade on me- like I might have as well as just used Jergens Wet Skin Natural Glow (which is great on an everyday basis, but not the vacation shade I was aiming for). The people working there were perfectly nice, but I definitely feel like I wasted my money and should have tanned at home. I was pale the whole trip and on top of being very heavy right now (if you can’t tone it, tan it), my confidence was definitely low when I had to be in a swimsuit. I will only ever go to Organic Bronze Bar (the most amazing deep spray tan ever), or stick to my DIY. Okay done complaining, but if you want to be TAN, you get my pain.
Supergoop Glow Screen / If you aren’t using SPF everyday, you should be. I barely leave my home and I still make sure to apply. I’m 30 now so I’m in full preservation/ prevention mode. My morning routine – splash face with water to get last night’s skincare off, apply a face mist, mix a serum and a moisturizer together and apply, then apply sunscreen. Glow Screen gives a beautiful non- Tin man type of glow to my face. I love wearing it on its own or with other makeup. The other sunscreen I use is this one from La Roche-Posay. Heat Protectant / My hairstylist uses this on me before blow drying and I was obsessed with the smell. I bought it, and not only does it smell amazing, it makes my hair silkier and softer. I use it before using any heat on either wet or dry hair.
OTHER
TikTok / Addictive. I have learned so much from the app and I have posted a few makeup, hair, and outfit videos on there. I have never been the best video editor or videographer, but it’s so fun. Follow me 🙂
Home Scent / Every few months I find a new home scent to obsess over. A few months ago it was Downy’s classic fabric softener scent, right now it is Tiki Beach or Mahogany Teakwood from Bath & Body Works.
Uniform / My daily wardrobe consists of crocs, biker shorts, and a humongous tee. These are my favorite shorts of all time because they are so soft and don’t squeeze my fat. The best oversized tshirts are either the ones that everyone wears from Urban Outfitters, or Pebby Forevee. Something about the cut of her side split tees are so flattering. I tried to cut my own to copy her, but it’s not the same! The fabric is that nice thick, lived in, starchy-ish fabric too, not thin and stretchy.
Morning Routine / Now that I work from home, my favorite part of the day is mornings. I sit under the gazebo (lovingly named Kim’s Kabana) and either scroll through TikTok, or read my Kindle while drinking coffee. We added this fab patio feature and it has been my favorite part of the summer! It was super easy to put together between me, my husband, and our friend.
Kindle / After too many months on a hiatus, I’m back on a reading kick. When I’m not reading a book on my Kindle, I’m listening to an audio book. I use the Libby app to get free books- All you need is a library card # to plug into it. Follow me on Goodreads to see what I like and hate. Feel free to send me your book suggestions! Water Bottle / I’m one of those annoying people that love to talk about how much water I drink. I get around two gallons daily. The key is having a straw! A good water bottle is very important because I take it everywhere with me. This is my favorite water bottle ever for around the house- it is huge, is insulated, and has a handle. It reminds me of a cuter version of a retro 7/11 big gulp cup. This one (plus this straw lid) is better for on the go.
Love Island UK / Season 3 & Season 5 are AMAZING. Currently watching season 4 and I love it, but those other two seasons were next level. I haven’t started watching the US version yet.
