Anyone else randomly switch up how they do their makeup routine? Every three years or so I get into a new rhythm. Here’s my process of how I’m applying everything at the moment:
- Serum + moisturizer mixed
- Primer + bronze drops mixed
- Eyeshadow
- Foundation
- Cream bronzer
- Under eye brightener + concealer
- Cream blush (sometimes)
- Under eye powder
- Eyeliner
- Powder face
- Powder bronze + contour
- Powder blush
- Highlight (sometimes)
- Curl lashes + mascara
- Brows
- Lip liner + lipstick
- Setting spray
- Freckles
- Magnetic lashes (sometimes)
Here’s more information on each step and the products I use:
- The only complaint I have about this moisturizer is that I wish the bottle was larger. I mix a few pumps of serum into it to boost it. I also love this mega hydrating serum mega hydrating that’s more affordable. During my skin prep I also apply a glowy eye cream.
- To apply primer, I dot it all over my face. I’m constantly rotating through my primer collection, but if I had to pick one holy grail it would be a combo of UD All Nighter with Glowish blur jam added onto the center of my face to blur my pores. Initially I wanted to say One Size primer is my holy grail, but the packaging bothers me because it’s weirdly hard to squeeze. I top my primer with a spray of Mist + Fix or rosewater. If I’m not using a glowy primer, I also put on dots of the CT Hollywood Filter or Mac Strobe cream and blend it all at once.
- It’s so hard to pick just one eye palette, but I love the Natasha Denona minis if you’d like a rec. My current go to eyeshadow look is to put Bare Minerals Warmth in the crease and smoked out under my eyes. It’s a perfect WARM rusty brown.
- The foundation I use depends on where my spray tan shade is at. For a glam night where I’m picking a holy grail, I’m either using Nars, Dior Backstage, or Clinique Beyond Perfecting (this one is amazing for oily skin). In my bridal kit I’ve been using soft matte Fenty because of the great color range and I love the finish.
- For cream contour I use this concealer in the shade Chestnut because it’s so easy to apply with the doe foot wand. I also love the high coverage it gives, because sometimes I struggle to blend out cream contour without it getting a bit patchy. Huda Tantour is my other favorite. It’s more of a classic creamy bronzer formula.
- For a bright under eye, I start with a light pink toned corrector, then go in with concealer. Usually I apply dots of each and blend it all at once.
- I’m so late to the cream blush bandwagon. I’ll always be such a powder person, so by the time I’m done with my makeup I’ve likely already covered any cream blush. I have the Milk blush in Werk that I got as a free Sephora sample that I’ve finally gotten the hang of and think it’s beautiful. To apply, I pick it up with a small ELF brush, dab it on the back of my hand to evenly distribute it on the brush, then apply to my cheeks.
- Brightening powder is one of my fave steps- I’m struggling to pick between the Fenty or Huda as my favorite.
- My go to eyeliner look is brown or black eyeliner pencil smudged out along the lash line with a small brush, then matte black liquid liner for a mini wing and thinly lined along the base of my lashes. I love a black or dark brown waterline. I’ve been bringing back my old school light pink bright waterline too- credit to Alix Earle for making that popular again. I was OBSESSED with Marc Jacobs Pink of Me before it was discontinued. Now I use a brow highlight as a pale eyeliner waterline shade. I’m also eyeing this one that looks like it could be perfect.
- I set my entire face with my favorite loose powder, then go in with Kosas or Mac Studio Fix powder if I need extra coverage.
- The most flattering blush I own is classic Mac Melba.
- I go back and forth using highlight since I’m such a greaseball. I definitely always highlight my inner corner though. This one is currently in my Ulta cart too.
- I’m always trying new mascaras, but one of my all time favorites that I recommend to everyone is Lash Stiletto. Extremely lengthening & thickening.
- My brows are a struggle for me. My routine at the moment is to brush clear gel through to spike them up and use a tint pen to add a few brush strokes.
- CT Iconic Nude + Nude Stix Pixi
- One Size waterproof is perfection.
- My makeup doesn’t feel complete without doing freckles all over my nose/ cheeks. If you don’t feel like buying a freckle pen, just dip a tiny brush into self tan and it does the same thing.
- Magnetic lashes are my last step. With lash growth serum I haven’t felt the need to wear them as often, but I love using them so I don’t have to deal with removing lash glue.
Try out my routine and let me know what you think. Thank you for reading.
