Makeup for Family Christmas Pictures

Only one week until Christmas!  I hope everyone is farther along on their Christmas shopping than I am.  Last night I met up with my family with the intention of getting a Christmas card picture.  In an effort to avoid this I like to tell my mom that her friends do not care what’s going on in my life or what I look like (and that’s what Facebook is for if they do) but she doesn’t believe me.  Last year I looked horrible in our family picture that was sent out to about sixtyish people in the mail, so I tried to make sure I was picture ready this time.  I did some extra contouring- especially on my nose- and did a simple eyeshadow look that just gave definition to the outer corners with some brightening on the waterline… my usual look basically.

Complexion | CERAVE moisturizer, MAC yellow radiance primer, FENTY foundation, URBAN DECAY pink concealer, WET N WILD where’s walnut? Cream contour, COTY airspun powder, TARTE park ave princess chisel palette, MAC darkly my dearest blush (discontinued), BARE MINERALS mineral veil, ABH nicole glow kit 143

Eyes | MAC primer, MORPHE butter, MAKEUP GEEK mirage,  wild west & corrupt, NARS himalia lid, TOO FACED black liner pencil, LOREAL voluminous primer, ESSENCE i <3 extreme mascara, NYX control freak brow gel to set lower lash mascara

Brow | ABH chocolate dipbrow pomade, ULTA brow gel

LIP | TOO FACED melted chihuahua

We went out for dinner too, so I skipped a liquid lip for one that I could easily re- apply without a mirror.  Too Faced Melted Chihuahua is a bright mauve that I like to pat in with my finger to make it a little more matte.  I used to be obsessed with the formula of these but I find them SO shiny now that I’m used to more matte formulas.  If you like shine you need these liquified lipsticks because they are very comfortable and pigmented. I chose this one over a nude that could wash me out since I went pretty heavy on my base makeup and I wanted to look alive for the picture.

I was happy with how our family picture turned out except for I find the Coty Airspun powder that I love for setting my cream products has a lot of flashback.  Because of this I forced my mom to use the picture without flash because I’m high maintenance even though “no one cares what I look like” that these go out to like I stated above.  I was happy to get some Instagrammable pictures with my family though since that can be a rare occasion these days.

I was having a lazy Sunday and didn’t feel like putting on fake lashes so I also skipped that.  Now that I’m so used to taking makeup pictures with false lashes on, I feel like these pictures look so drab with just my natural lashes.  This is why it’s so easy to get addicted to using them.  I want to focus on getting my lashes in tip top shape so that I actually love how they look on their own.  After I took this makeup off I moisturized with Bio Oil and made sure to swipe a little over my lashes to give them some love.

As for outfit, my cardigan is from Urban Outfitters, jeans from Express, white cami tank from Forever21, and these booties from Amazon (so comfy and I wear them at least twice a week).  That’s it for this post.  Thank you for reading and happy holidays! 🙂
