So instead of going out and being social on Saturday night, I dedicated my evening to faux freckles. I was in the depths of the Instagram explore page looking at gorgeous microbladed brows and freckles, wishing I could afford it. Unfortunately I’m not really in a position to spend money on face tattooing at the moment. Not sure I’d be brave enough to do it if I was. However, I can fake it
I grabbed my bottle of TanWise dark foam and my little brow brush and went to town dotting little freckles all over my face. Instantly I was obsessed. I loved how they look when they were freshly applied so I was a bit sad when I washed my face the next in the morning and they were significantly faded. I added some more, slept in them, and repeated the process. They look more natural now that I have different shades of faded and fresh ones.
I also filled in my brows with the self tan the same way I fill them in with Anastasia brow gel. It gives a nice stain on my skin and my brows look more full. If faux freckles aren’t for you, the brows might be. I don’t think it would work for all hair colors, but just add a bit to the tails to try it out if you’re hesitant.
Step by Step Faux Freckles:
- Start with a clean face, add moisturizer (Ponds is my favorite)
- Using a small brush and a tan with color guard, add tiny specks, focusing under the eyes, across your nose, temples, around the lips and chin, and under brows.
- It dries pretty quickly but don’t touch your face for a few hours. Make sure to not get it wet or cry.
- Sleep with the freckles on
- Wash face in the morning, avoiding chemical exfoliants.
- Apply moisturizer, add more freckles if you want them to stand out
I kind of got out of control and also added lipliner. It fades the fastest since I’m constantly applying lip balm this time of year but I still love it. For some reason I feel like I can pull off more bold lip colors now that I’m freckly. I have the Hello Bordeaux tinted Chapstick on here and love it, where I usually couldn’t pull off this shade without a full face of makeup. I only have on moisturizer and sunscreen, blush, mascara & magnetic lashes, and chapstick.
I truly can’t see a time where I don’t do this now! This faux tan freckle method has been the most realistic, natural, and easy way that I’ve tried. I’m not sure how it would apply over foundation/ powder/ bronzer etc. so I will report back when I try. It kind of makes me feel like I don’t need base products though, which is wild.
