Cozy Night Routine Essentials

Beauty sleep is a very real thing, and prepping for it begins way before bedtime. My routine is definitely going to sound elderly, but I personally love it. Falling asleep isn’t the easiest for me, so all this helps. I’m in my 30s and trying to stay cute, so a lot of it is beauty/ skincare related as well.

I eat dinner at five and have the kitchen clean with leftovers put away by 5:30ish. If I haven’t done my workout yet, I’ll bike or walk for 30 minutes, but usually I get that done earlier in the day. Around six I’m ready to be in pajamas on the couch. If it’s Monday through Thursday, I pour soda water, tea, or an NA drink.  I’ve already washed my face at this point, put on pajamas, and snuggled up with a quilt to relax until I go to bed at 8:30. It takes me a while to fall asleep, but it’s typically close to 9:30 if I’m lucky.

Sleep Gummies / I bought the Lemme Sleep gummies and LOVE them. They take about 90 minutes to kick in, so I take them around seven since I’m trying to be sleepy by 8:30.

Hair Leave In / Amika Dream Routine feels so nice on my dry ends, and keeps my hair soft overnight. I switch between combing this through my hair, or hair oil

Water / Gotta have three beverages available for my night routine: tea, water, and soda water. Waterloo apple spice is my current favorite. Just lime and soda water is great too though. We use the Aarke carbonator, and get C02 at Target.

White strips / I try to remember to whiten my teeth at least once a month, but once a week would be ideal.  As a coffee drinker, this is a must. As a bonus, it also forces me to not snack after dinner when I’m wearing them.

Heating Blanket / For fall and winter a heating blanket is so ideal. I’m not sure if anyone else is like this, but I have to have warm feet to fall asleep. It physically keeps me awake if I can’t get them warm before getting in bed. We put a heating blanket in between the top sheet and the duvet cover and crank it up about half an hour before we get into bed. I also have one to use on the couch. I’m very blessed that my mom is a quilter, and I swear nothing traps heat in like a big quilt.

Body Lotion / I love feeling moisturized before bed. For hardcore hydration, nothing is better than Nivea. Scent- wise, I love Eos Cashmere Vanilla.  It’s much less greasy than the Nivea as well. The Fenty hand cream is great before bed.

Candle / At least three times a week, we have a candle burning, just for the the ambiance.

Eye Mask / These are the best I’ve tried. I keep them in the fridge to make sure they’re extra refreshing.

Sheet Mask / I keep these in the fridge as well. They are a staple that I have repurchased multiple times at this point. I use them at least once a week.

Heatless Curls / So thankful that Tiktok introduced me to heatless curl methods. The scrunchie bun method is my favorite, but I also love classic robe tie curls. I upgraded to this Kitsch satin rod, and it works much better than my robe tie. If I’m not sleeping in this, I keep my hair in a really loose braid to protect it at night.

Slippers / No explanation needed. I live in these.

Silk Hair Cap /  My hair is a frizz ball, so recently I started using this. I already sleep with a silk pillowcase on one of my pillows, but I use three and change out pillowcases twice a week, so it’s nice to have this cap as well.

Kindle / My Kindle is so crucial for helping me fall asleep. I love being able to read with the lights out. I set the font size to huge so there’s zero strain on my eyes. Currently reading You, Again by Kate Goldbeck. I’m usually reading a Harry Potter fanfic though lol. Add me on Goodreads

Lip Balm / I apply aquaphor approximately 10 times per day.

Magnesium / My husband and I have one scoop of Natural Calm with a pinch of Celtic sea salt in 32 oz of water first thing when we wake up, and right before bed. It’s very rare that we miss a day/ night. There are tons of benefits to magnesium, and I appreciate the extra hydration.

PJs / Skims Soft Lounge Rib pajamas are my all time favorite. I also love this nightgown from Amazon.

Robe / I could do a whole separate blog post on robes. My daily driver is this leopard one. I have linked a cute pink one I’ve been eyeing as well. For Christmas last year my friend gave me an Unhide Schleepy, a vegan furry hooded blanket/ robe. It’s the coziest clothing item I own and I live in it. For Christmas last year I bought my mother in law this flannel robe, you can get them embroidered with initials.

Noise maker / I even bring this on vacations with me. It has a million sounds. I like the rain noises, white noise, crackling fire, and fan sounds.

My comfort night shows are Kardashians, Parks and Rec, Sam Sulek Youtube videos, Gossip Girl, and The Office. Goodnight! 🙂
