September 2018 Favorites | Kimandmakeup

First of all, hell yes that it’s finally not summer!  I come alive when the temperatures drop lol jk… kinda. Over the course of September I gathered a ton of favorites.  I went to four weddings for four weekends in a row, so I had my fair share of putting on lots of makeup, which is the best part about going to a wedding for me pretty much. I’ll start with beauty this time.

Beauty

Essie For the Twill of It / This is a staple nail polish for me.  It looks like an oil slick based on the way the light hits your nails- grey, green, or purple, with a lot of shine. It also barely chipped wearing it for a week.

Elf Selfie Ready Stippling brush / I picked this up at Target one day randomly because the Elf prices are too cheap to pass up. I like using this brush for contouring and blush because it applies a light amount of powder and blends it out easily

Light Eyeshadows / I’m trying to maximize my lid space to make my eyes look awake and my brows higher these days. I run a skin tone eyeshadow or any powder really from the brow bone to my lash line, add light peach shade in the crease, and sometimes swirl some bronzer in the outer v area for a little definition.

Nivea Firming Lotion + Banana Boat Summer Color / I stayed tan all month by combining these lotions. I love the scent and hydration of the Nivea firming version.  I mix about two parts Nivea, one part Banana Boat and my skin is soft and tan.

ESSIE FOR THE TWILL OF IT, OPI CHICK FLICK CHERRY

OPI Chick Flick Cherry / Since it’s fall time I had to go with a classic maroon nail polish. I love the slight berry undertone this burgundy polish gives and I found myself wanting to repaint my nails this color a few times.

Shea Moisture Moisture Retention shampoo / I ran out of Carol’s Daughter shampoo and couldn’t find it at the store. I had to get something else because it was like day 6 of my hair so I went for the next most natural thing I could find at Fred Meyer. I try to look in the “ethnic hair” section (their words, not mine!) because the products are moisturizing, don’t contain sulfates or as much alcohol, and leave my hair soft. I really like this shampoo and may repurchase it in the future. I do find though that I can’t go as long without washing, so if your hair gets oily you may want to skip this one.

Too Faced Peach Perfect Powder / When getting ready with my fellow bridesmaids for a wedding, one of my friends pulled out the Too Faced Peach Powder and raved about it for under eyes. I gave it a try and instantly became hooked. I usually don’t buy high end setting powders these days due to loving Coty Airspun and RCMA. Something about this powder blurred my face and made my under eyes look perfect ALL day. The powder literally made that area look younger and airbrushed.  This is now holy grail. I only really use it for that one area though, but I’m sure it would be nice to set all over the face as well.

Soap & Glory Smoothie Star body spray / This is a fragrance I have been eyeing forever that I finally purchased.  I love the scent of this, and wish the rest of the Smoothie Star items smelled like the spray. It barely lasts on me, but it’s so clean smelling and makes me happy that I don’t even mind. I reapply it way too liberally.

Loreal Voluminous Burgundy / I was immediately intrigued when I saw this gorgeous mascara. The classic Voluminous Carbon Black from Loreal is a major favorite of mine, and I love this one too. Purple or bright blue mascaras look really cheesy on me, but burgundy is a lot more subtle and is basically a better take on a brown mascara. When I accidentally smudge a little onto my skin I can grab a brush to smudge it around and I suddenly have a smoked out burgundy look. I also find it great as a brow gel to match my hair.

Magnetic lashes / I did a whole separate post on how hard I fell in love with Ardell Magnetic Double Wispies.

ABH Honey / Something about this nude just screams perfect fall lipstick to me! I love ABH’s matte lipstick bullet formula so much.

Non Beauty

Bad by Lennon Stella / I have played this song on repeat since the day she released it.  Lennon Stella was on Nashville and I love following her on Insta.

WYLD CBD Gummies / I picked these up at the local dispensary  and 1. they taste really good 2. they make me sleep extremely well. The cute packaging is an added bonus.

Cutting tshirts / I have been on a little DIY spree of snipping the hems off my tshirts and sweatshirts. Just taking 2-3 inches off the bottom makes me wear the shirts 4x more because they hit me at just the right spot.  It’s extremely easy to do.

Calorie Tracking / I’m back on my calorie tracking in My Fitness Pal. When I do this I see results and just feel better about my body. I have a pretty big weight loss goal in mind so wish me luck sticking to this!

New Planner / My old planner was falling apart that I got from HomeGoods so I picked one up that had been on my Amazon wishlist forever. I think it is just adorable and the binding makes this one feel like it will last. Speaking of wishlists, I organized my favorites from Amazon a little bit here: https://smile.amazon.com/shop/kimandmakeup?ref=idea_inf_lv

Yeti Tumbler / My friend that got married gave us all these huge pink Yeti mugs for our bridesmaid gifts. I use it at my desk at work everyday for iced coffee or tea and LOVE it. The pink color makes me happy too.

Casio Watch / I’ve had this watch for ages and can’t say enough good things about it. It’s simple and sturdy, matches every outfit, and has a retro feel to it.

Grey $18 shirt / You never know how sizing will be when you order clothes on Amazon. I’m here to say that this shirt fits AMAZINGLY and is super flattering. I’ve seen shirts that look like this at Urban Outfitters for triple the price.

Tan shoes / Wearing these Target sneakers and these tan booties from Amazon nonstop.  I highly recommend them because they’re great and go with everything.  I actually already had the booties in black and they are excellent quality. The sneakers are from the brand Universal Thread, which seems to be Target’s version of Madewell. At least that’s what the line reminds me of!  These sneakers are a good dupe of the Vince Warren sneakers that I’ve been eyeing for a few seasons now.

AE Jeans / I bought a new pair of jeans that I’m already so obsessed with. I’ll link them here and you need them.  They fit just right and are the perfect blue. I like that they don’t have rips so I can feel good about wearing them to work, but they still have the raw hem for some edge. Right now they are $35!!  I put the booties, jeans, watch, and Amazon shirt all together in a photo just for this post.

AE Jeans I’m obsessed with

Cardigans / Pretty much all year round but especially in the fall time, I love wearing open front cardigans, a cami top, and high waisted jeans. I like cardigans way more than pull over sweaters for this reason.

Forever 21 Cami Tops / Speaking of cami tops, I placed an order in September from Forever 21 of a bunch of their camis.  At about $3 each I didn’t feel guilty picking up like ten in an assortment of colors.

Bachelor / Although the new season hasn’t started, I’m looking forward to the next season of The Bachelor.  Colton was one of my favorites during Becca’s season. He is really easy on the eyes and a sweetheart. I preferred Jason or Blake as Bachelor because they would be more interesting to watch, but I’m trying to stay positive about ABC’s choice. Can’t wait to watch his love journey unfold lol.

Taking the stairs / I decided that September was “stairs month” for me.  This means climbing the flights of stairs everyday at least once up to the 6th floor that I work on. I’m huffing and puffing by the end, but it’s a great way to get extra calories shaved off my day.  As I’m writing this it was day 24- I’m trying to get to 30!

Wooden Caddy / The little stand that I took some of the beauty favorites photos on is another favorite.  It’s from Target and I like it for standing my mirror on as I get ready. I also keep some of my setting powders on it for quick access to do my makeup.

Thank you so much for reading! Let me know what you were loving in September.
