We’re finally getting snow in Portland! I actually live in Hillsboro now if you’ve ever heard of that, but everywhere shuts down when we get even a little snow. Since it’s supposed to stick around for the whole week, I’ll be working from home a lot and probably blogging more since I’ll have cabin fever. Here’s what I was loving in January.
NON-BEAUTY
Mauve Henley / This shirt from Amazon is adorable and I’ve gotten so much wear out of it. It comes in a bunch of colors and you fits true to size, but I think it would also be cute to get a size bigger to wear a little baggier with leggings.
Book Club / One of my friends started up a book club and January was the first club meeting. We read “The Woman in the Window” and while it was a book that was kind of blah for about the first half, I feel like the ending made up for it. Going to hang out and have drinks to talk about the book with some other girls was so much fun though, and made the book itself not even matter. Looking forward to February’s pick, “Before We Were Yours”, which I’ll be getting through pretty quickly now that I’ll be snowed in.
Jaclyn x Quay Roxanne / If you follow me on Instagram you’ve probably seen me wear these sunglasses quite a bit. I thought these were going to be sunglasses that I wore when I was super dressed up, like Vegas day club attire. However, I’ve been very surprised by how often I wear these in my typical day to day life. With just a hoodie, leggings, Uggs, and beanie, they make me feel super glam and girly, and like I tried way harder than I did.
Bodysuit / Amazon has super cute bodysuits, and out of all the ones I’ve tried this one is by far my favorite. I wore this white one out to a Nikki Glaser comedy show last weekend. It was comfortable, and with the ruching drawstring you can decide how modest or risque you’d like to wear it. I didnt realize that I could tie it in a cute bow so ignore how I wore it in this photo lol. I will be probably be purchasing it in a few more colors to wear for my Nashville trip this spring.
Aerie bralette / No other bralette can hold a candle to this one. It looks like a cropped cami so if is shows a little under a top or sweater it doesn’t look weird, and holds everything up nicely. I bought a medium because I wanted to feel nice and tucked in, but I feel like it runs true to size. Big fan!
Joggers / This was a recommendation from @thesisterstudioig, one of my favorite fashion instagrammers. I had been waiting for these to come back into stock for a couple months, and they were well worth it. I’m currently wearing a grey pair as I write this, and I change into these pants everyday when I get home from work. I bought a pair as a gift as well because I needed to have someone else in my life understand how amazing these are. I actually returned some that I had bought from Old Navy after comparing them with these.
ACDC shirt / Don’t listen to any of their music, but love the sparkle on this tee. I love graphic tees right now and this one comes with a cute knot. Looks to be sold out currently but American Eagle seems to restock semi often.
Duffle Bag / I traded for this gym bag because my other one was not holding enough. I lug my work outfit, shoes, outerwear, and shower stuff to the gym every morning and needed a bag that would comfortably house it all. This bag is perfect and like the water bottle holder, side pockets, and vented pocket to keep my sweaty clothes in. Everest is a cool retro brand that was super affordable as well so this was and A+++ purchase.
Superbowl / Football sucks, but snacks rock. We had an awesome spread at our house and had some friends over for drinks and hanging out.
Apple Watch Band / I was sick of not being able to work out with my Apple Watch on since that’s one of the main functions of it due to my sweaty wrists. I bought a workout band and love how it looks and performs. I purchased Walnut, a tan brown, even though I think Stone is a little cuter because of my fake tan always staining light things.
BEAUTY
Perfume / I have been wearing Heavenly by Victoria’s Secret every single day and want to reek of it pretty much. It’s such a lovely scent that makes me feel freshly clean and pretty, along with being ultra feminine and not too sweet. I put it on right after the shower, and have been meaning to go pick up the body lotion and body wash to layer with. Other winter scents I’ve been into have been Mac Velvet Teddy and my long time favorite Euphoria by Calvin Klein. I have such good memories of Euphoria and have been wearing it since high school! I also love browsing Fragrantica.com to read reviews of perfumes and see recommendations and dupes. I literally can get lost in that website for hours. I’m also in the market for some bomb body sprays that I can apply throughout the day so feel free to comment your favorites!
Essie Virgin Snow / I put this in SO many favorites posts and think it’s a must have color. Perfect pastel lavender blue for every season.
Nars Stripped / I forget to mention this lip color just about every month because it basically feels like a part of me. I keep it handy in the front pocket of my purse, not even in my purse makeup bag, because I need it to be easy access. If I’m wearing a nude lip and am out and about, Stripped is what I always touch up with. It glides on, fades off perfectly evenly, and is the perfect neutral nude shade.
Maybelline Stiletto Mascara / This mascara has been around for like decades and I finally picked it up after I did makeup for a bride that said it was her go to. She was 110% correct and I slept on this mascara WAY too long. It gives length and fullness, and the brush is great for getting tiny inner corner and bottom lashes. The first use was too wet, but by the second time I used it I had a great experience with it.
No.7 Microdermabrasion Exfoliator / I’ve found thee best physical face exfoliator. This blows the Acure brightening exfoliant that I have been using out of the water. The No. 7 exfoliator leaves my face feeling so smooth like I had some kind of treatment done to it, and I feel like I only need to use it once a week because of how effective it is. I like to apply it to clean skin, massage it in small circles all over my face with dry hands, then wet my hands and keep doing that, then rinse it off. I will forever use this in my skincare routine from here on out! If you see it at Target, get it.
It’s a 10 Mask / I was gifted this hair mask for Christmas. I always restock on the It’s a 10 keratin silk leave in spray by the Generic Value Products they have at Sally Beauty. And this is another winner from that line. This along with Carol’s Daughter Green Supreme shampoo and Biolage conditioner have been making my hair feel strong and soft.
By the time I finished writing this the snow turned to hail and the sun came out, typical Oregon weather. I’m so sick of gloomy days and feeling freezing all the time, even though I prefer this weather to summer! I can’t ever just be happy honestly, and I need to just be thankful that it’s beanie season so I can worry less about my roots needing to be done. Thank you so so so much for reading! 🙂
