Face Mask Collection

Face masking during the week is an instant pick me up. If you haven’t done one recently, I highly recommend getting into comfy clothes after work, putting your hair back in a headband, washing your face, then applying a mask. If you search my blog or read more of my skincare posts, you may find other masks that I’ve reviewed in the past, but I’m always trying new ones.  This is a breakdown of my current collection.

Jack Black Deep Dive / I’ve repurchased this mask more than I can count at this point. It’s a cleanser & mask in one that I absolutely love. I apply a thin layer all over and leave it on for about 20 minutes. It’s a volcanic ash clay with glycolic acid that gives a light exfoliation and sucks that dirt out of my pores. When you go to remove it it conveniently lathers up because of the cleanser aspect.

Aztec Secret / This is not a repurchase, because buying it once lasts a lifetime. This $10 tub of powder is best for when your skin is feeling dull because it will not only refresh your skin, but also brings blood to the surface from the intense pulsing sensation.  Mix a ratio of one part apple cider vinegar with one part powder. This one takes a bit longer to fully dry so I leave it on for about 45 minutes. After removal, my face stays red for about an hour, so I’m not leaving the house after use.

Peter Thomas Roth Pumpkin Enzyme / If I could only have one mask in my collection it would be this one. This makes my skin feel super refreshed and bright.  You apply a thin layer, then massage it around with wet fingertips to lightly exfoliate. Leave it on for about 10-15 minutes to let the mask do it’s thing before rinsing.

Ole Henriksen Hygge Hydraclay Detox / I received this mask in an Influenster box and have used it quite a bit this summer.  I reach for this when I want a more gentle clay mask. It’s interesting because usually clay intensely absorbs, but this one has some oils in it to be more soothing while it detoxes.  I probably won’t repurchase this particular one because of the strong scent unfortunately, but I have enjoyed it.

Origins Hello, Calm / This is the newest mask to my collection. I had been wanting a cannabis skincare product, and I picked this one up during the Ulta sale a couple months back.  I store this in the fridge and apply it when I want to give my skin a big dose of hydration. This is one that I would use before applying makeup if I want to treat myself and feel refreshed.

Derma-E Vitamin C Night Cream / This isn’t marketed as a mask, but I think of it as a sleeping mask. I was looking into the overhyped Summer Fridays mask, and this looked like a pretty decent dupe.  It goes on thick but absorbs well. The claims say it makes skin more vibrant, so fingers crossed that it’s doing that.

Panoxyl Maximum Strength / This is a face wash, but it’s so effective that I like to double it as a mask.  When I feel a breakout might be coming on or my skin is extra oily, I apply a thin layer of this and leave it on for about 15 minutes.  It leaves my skin feeling dry, so I make sure to add a serum or some Bio Oil to my moisturizer afterwards.

For all of these I make sure to apply them to my face and neck.  When I’m ready to remove the mask I use a steamy hot washcloth and follow up with my usual serums and moisturizers. I’ve considered buying a face steamer but the idea of storing it annoys me.  I feel like getting someone a steamer and a face mask as a gift would be amazing if you know a skincare lover! Let me know if you have one and think it’s worth it though.
